After the deaths of her cousins—Francisco in 1919 and Jacinta in 1920—Lucia dedicated her life to spreading the message of Fatima.

She became a Carmelite nun, adopting the name Sister Maria Lucia of Jesus and of the Immaculate Heart, and spent decades in cloistered prayer, writing about the apparitions, and corresponding with Popes and theologians about the Fatima messages.

Lucia's writings, including her memoirs and reflections, have deepened the Church’s understanding of the Fatima events.

She played a key role in revealing the famous Three Secrets of Fatima, which have been subjects of widespread theological and historical study.

Sister Lucia passed away on February 13, 2005, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith and devotion. Her life serves as a testament to the power of prayer, the importance of sacrifice, and the enduring influence of the Fatima message.
